30+ acre forest fire burning in Storrie

30+ acre forest fire burning in Storrie

A 30+ acre vegetation fire parked up Monday morning near Storrie.

The U.S. Forest Service said the so-called Tobin Fire is currently burning towards Tobin Ridge.

Cal Fire says powerlines are threatened but it is not known if there are any structures threatened in the fire.

Firefighters said the fire is particularly difficult to fight as the rocky, steep terrain is making it difficult to make an attack.

The Chico Fire Department reported that smoke can be seen over the mountains to the east. The cause is unknown at this time. Flights have been restricted in the area temporarily.
