West Nile Virus: Butte and Glenn Counties lead California in human cases

As the summer and the peak season of West Nile Virus activity winds down, Butte and Glenn County continue to lead the state with human cases by a long shot.

As of Friday, state figures show that of the 108 human cases of West Nile, 38 of those cases are in Butte County and 17 are in Glenn County. The two counties account for more than 50 percent of all of California’s cases.

The map featured below, from the USGS disease tracking site shows just two counties in the United States shaded in dark green, Butte County and Maricopa County in Arizona.
