THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN TAUNTON HAS ISSUED A

* FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR NORTHERN CONNECTICUT AND WESTERN AND CENTRAL MASSACHUSETTS. THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF HARTFORD IN CONNECTICUT...WORCESTER AND SPRINGFIELD IN MASSACHUSETTS.

* FROM 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TUESDAY NIGHT

* MULTIPLE WAVES OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS WILL MOVE OVER SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND WITH THE FIRST WAVE OCCURRING LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THESE STORMS WILL CONTAIN HEAVY RAINFALL AS THE AIRMASS TROPICAL IN NATURE. STORM TOTALS AT THE END OF THE EVENT MAY REACH CLOSE TO 3 INCHES IN THE WATCH REGION. THIS WATCH MAY BE EXPANDED EASTWARD IN BOTH TIME AND AREAL COVERAGE OVER THE NEXT 24 HOURS.

* THIS RAIN BRINGS THE RISK FOR SMALL STREAM...URBAN AND POOR DRAINAGE FLASH FLOODING IN THE WATCH AREA.
