Paid sick time is now mandatory in the city of Minneapolis. The paid sick time ordinance passed the Minneapolis City Council by a unanimous vote Friday morning. Minneapolis is the first city in the state with a paid sick time mandate.
The paid sick leave ordinance covers any workplace that employs 6 or more people. It allows employees to earn an hour of sick and safe leave for every 30 hours worked.
Mayor Betsy Hodges is a strong supporter of the ordinance.
