1 dead, at least 5 others injured in N. Minneapolis shooting

One person was killed and more than five others were injured in a reported shooting near the intersection of 16th Avenue and Newton Avenue in North Minneapolis Wednesday night.

Minneapolis police were called to the scene of a possible shooting on the 1500 block of Newton Avenue around 8:50 p.m., according to Mike Klos of the Minneapolis Police Department 4th Precinct. One victim was reported dead on the scene. Several other victims were taken to the hospital.

Witnesses told Fox 9 they heard 25 to 30 gunshots in the area.

Minneapolis police are still investigating the incident. Police are asking any other witnesses to the shooting to come forward.
