A WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 2 PM THIS AFTERNOON TO 10 PM
PDT THIS EVENING.

* WINDS: WEST WINDS AT 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS OF 40 TO 45 MPH.

* TIMING: WEST WINDS WILL INCREASE DURING THE EARLY AFTERNOON
NORTH OF INDEPENDENCE AND INCREASE SOUTH OF INDEPENDENCE BY
LATE AFTERNOON AND THEN PERSIST THROUGH MUCH OF THE EVENING.

* LOCATIONS: THE ENTIRE OWENS VALLEY IS IN THE WIND ADVISORY...
BUT THE STRONGEST WINDS ARE EXPECTED IN THE FOOTHILLS OF THE
SIERRA. STRONG CROSSWINDS ARE EXPECTED TO REACH HIGHWAY 395
AT TIMES... PARTICULARLY NEAR INDEPENDENCE AND LOCATIONS
SOUTH OF OLANCHA.

* IMPACTS: THE PRIMARY IMPACTS WILL BE STRONG CROSSWINDS ALONG
HIGHWAY 395...MAKING TRAVEL DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY TO HIGH
PROFILE VEHICLES. THERE MAY BE SOME AREAS OF BLOWING DUST OR
SAND AS WELL.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WIND ADVISORY MEANS THAT CROSSWINDS ARE EXPECTED TO BE STRONG
ENOUGH TO MAKE DRIVING DIFFICULT...ESPECIALLY FOR HIGH PROFILE
VEHICLES. IN ADDITION...STRONG WINDS OVER DESERT AREAS COULD RESULT
IN BRIEFLY LOWERED VISIBILITIES TO WELL UNDER A MILE AT TIMES IN
BLOWING DUST OR BLOWING SAND. USE EXTRA CAUTION.
