FOX 13 Tampa Headlines

2 dead in officer-involved shooting in Pinellas Park

A Pinellas Park police officer was involved in a shooting hear 94th Avenue and 60th Street Saturday night.

It happened just before 9 p.m. at 6082 96 Terrace. Police said they were responding to a domestic incident at the address when it happened.

No officers were injured in the shooting.

Sgt. Mike Lynch with Pinellas Park PD said, when officers got to the scene a woman outside told them she lived there, and there were two men fighting inside. The officers went inside the house. That's when someone began to fire at them.

Lynch said the officers returned fire. Both men inside were shot. One died on the scene and the other at the hospital.

Lynch said the investigation was ongoing, but it appeared the man who died at the hospital could have been shot before officers had arrived. He added, investigators believed only one person was shooting at officers when they came inside the home.

The two men, and the woman who met officers outside, all lived at the home. Their relationship beyond that was unclear.

As part of standard protocol, the officers were put on administrative leave pending the completion of the investigation.
