St. Petersburg police investigating a homicide

A busy night for St. Petersburg Police Department.

They are currently investigating a homicide. It happened just after midnight Saturday at 6 th Avenue South and 5 th Street South.

Police say Scott Franklin was driving home from work when his car was followed by at least two or three other vehicles. The group stopped just short of that intersection, that's when witnesses reported hearing gunshots and seeing someone lean out of the passenger side of one of the suspect vehicles. Those other vehicles then fled.

St. Petersburg police's major crimes unit is currently investigating.
