Woman choked in random south Minneapolis attack

A woman in south Minneapolis was choked on the street in what police say was a random attack and robbery. Police released surveillance photos Thursday from just hours after the attack, when the suspects used the victim's ATM card.

The 26-year-old woman told police it was just after 1:30 a.m. Sunday near the 2500 block of Aldrich Avenue S. when she was attacked while walking down the street. The suspect choked her to the point she lost consciousness.

Moments later, the victim woke up and started screaming. People living nearby came to help her and found her belongings scattered all over.

"This has every indication this is a very random incident," Minneapolis police spokesman John Elder said. "And there is nothing this victim had done wrong to instigate or provoke the attack."

If you recognize these men, call Minneapolis police or CrimeStoppers.
