Quintin Bealer Murder Trial Delayed Again

Quintin Bealer Murder Trial Delayed Again

Nearly three-years after Red Bluff 14-year-old Marysa Nichols was found dead in a field near Red Bluff High School, the trial for defendant Quintin Bealer has been delayed again. A Sacramento County superior court judge Monday granted a motion filed by Quentin Bealer's attorney to continue his murder trial. Bealer's defense argued that prosecutors turned over roughly 800 pages of discovery three weeks ago and they need time to analyze the new information to see if it's pertinent their client's defense. In addition, the defense has filed two new motions: the first motion asks to have Bealer's murder case dismissed. The second motion asks have Tehema County recused; and instead, have the case handed over to the State Attorney General's Office to prosecute. With the case moved from Tehama County to Sacramento County last year, jury selection was supposed to begin today with testimony starting later this month. Now a new trial date remains up in the air until these latest motions are heard. Marysa Nichols disappeared Feb. 26, 2013. Two days later, her body was found face down in field, strangled to death. Bealer, 41, was arrested shortly after surveillance video of him waling in the area at the time of her death was released to the public. Bealer turned himself in admitting that it was him in the video but always denying he killed Nichols.
