After a year of searching, Chico Police have arrested a suspect from a 2015 bank robbery.
24-year-old Erick Avalos-Guevara, of Wheatland, was taken into custody around 1 p.m. after a year-long FBI investigation pointed investigators in the suspect’s direction.
Avalos-Guevara is currently being held in the Yuba County jail facing charges of felony robbery.
The charges stem from a bank robbery that happened September 30, 2015. Investigators say the suspect entered the Umpqua Bank on the 1500 block of the Esplanade.
They said the robber walked, handed the teller a note demanding cash and then fled the scene. No one was hurt in the robbery.
At the time, the suspect was described as a light-skinned Hispanic male, about 5’8” tall, with a medium to heavy build, wearing a dark baseball cap, a dark hooded sweatshirt, and sunglasses.
Investigators used this description, as well as additional evidence found at the scene which led them to make an arrest.
