A Northern California jail guard is recovering this morning after being brutally attacked by an inmate.
The attack happened at Mule Creek State Prison in Ione Sunday afternoon.
Officials said the inmate, 28-year-old Brian Jones who is serving time for first degree murder, was being let out of his cell when he punched the officer in the face and then stabbed him several times in the head and back with a hand-made weapon.
The officer was taken to the hospital with multiple stab wounds and a cut under his eye. He was treated and released.
Three other officers also suffered minor injuries.
Jones, who is already serving 58-years to life, will face several felony charges including attempted murder.More
