Drying in Indianapolis Before the Super Bowl

Feb 3, 2012; 2:00 PM ET

The New York Giants take on the New England Patriots this Sunday at 6:30 p.m. EST in the Super Bowl at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The game will take place under a retractable roof, but the weather may impact travelers and tailgaters heading toward Indianapolis.

A storm which produced whiteout conditions from Denver to the central Plains will produce light rain across the Indianapolis metro area into this evening.

Any left-over drizzle or clouds will break on Sunday as drying occurs behind the storm, which will be pushing eastward.

Meanwhile, those traveling to Indianapolis may run into problems with airport delays related to the snow and whiteout conditions continuing across portions of Nebraska and Iowa into tonight.

On the southern edge of the storm, mild and muggy air from the Gulf of Mexico will fuel locally torrential downpours and severe thunderstorms across portions of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee into tonight. Flight delays and dangerous travel on the ground will result.
