Jeannette Calle

Jeannette Calle joined the AccuWeather team in August 2007 as a Bilingual Television Weather Broadcaster. Jeannette comes from Philadelphia, where she worked at NBC10-WCAU. She attended Temple University where she found her passion for reporting and broadcasting; she graduated with a bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism. Ms. Calle is a March baby; she was born in Chester County, Pa. Though she lived in Philadelphia for a few years prior to moving to State College, Coatesville is where she calls home. She is one of three children; she has a younger sister and an older brother. Her father is Ecuadorian, and her mother is Puerto Rican. Get to know more about Jeannette below.

What made you choose weather/meteorology/broadcasting as a career?

I consider myself a news junky. When I was younger, family and friends knew I always tuned into the news so they would call me up and ask what the weather was looking like.

Favorite sports team? Music? Movie genre?

My favorite sports team would be any team from Philadelphia, especially Phillies and Eagles. I enjoy listening to pop and r&b, and I can't leave out my latin music, bachata and merengue. My favorite movie genres are action and romantic comedy.

Right or left handed?

RIGHT handed.

Last movie you watched/book you read?

I am a big fan of Robert De Niro. The last movie I watched was The Little Fockers.

Favorite day of the year?

December 25th. I love the holiday season.

Favorite/most addictive form of social media?

Facebook, I enjoy reconnecting with old friends and family I lost touched with.

If you could go back or forward in time, where would you go?

I would go to Cancun. I went for spring break while in college, and it was breathtaking. The sand was like baby powder, and the water was an aquamarine blue.

Coffee or Tea?

Both. Depends on how I feel. Preferably green or lemon tea for relaxation. If I need a boost, then Ill go for a latte or cappuccino.

What's a word you say a lot?

"Bangin'!" It describes something that is really good. :)

Your current desktop picture?

My dearest boyfriend and I indoor rock climbing; yes, I beat him!

Most influential person in your life?

I would have to say my lovely parents and Oprah.

Favorite Season?

I love, LOVE the spring. Not too cold, not too warm.

PC or MAC?

PC all the way!

What kind of tree or animal would you be?

I absolutely love tropical locations. If I could be a tree, I would be a palm tree.

If you were a car – What kind would you be?

A Porsche Carerra... fast yet so smooth.

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

You would find lots of beverages. Tons of bottled water, orange juice, cranberry juice and milk. Also, yogurt, eggs, pickles, apples and broccoli.

One meal for the rest of your life – what would it be?

Sushi! My favs include tuna avocado, spicy salmon and shrimp tempura.

Hobbies / Special Interests / If Golf, what's your Handicap?

I enjoy cooking, working out, shopping (if you consider that a hobby) and traveling.

Favorite place to vacation?

Anywhere in the Caribbean. I love the islands!
