What made you choose weather/meteorology/broadcasting as a career?
I became interested in the weather very early, in about fifth grade. The weather unit that my fifth grade teacher covered sparked my interest.
Weirdest job you've ever held?
I spent 7 years of my life all together working for an auto parts store (NAPA in Columbia, S.C., and in Asheville, N.C.) trying to scrape enough money together to stay in college. The job itself wasn't so weird, but you meet some real characters when you deliver parts to mechanics, and some real characters come into the store. One guy loved to shake your hand and squeeze it until the bones scraped against one another. Another would charge you $25 if you stopped into his shop just to ask him for directions. Despite encountering people like that, I learned a lot of practical stuff working there, especially how to properly maintain my car and perform simple repairs. I saved quite a bit of money.
Favorite sports team? Music? Movie genre?
For college sports, my favorite teams are the USC Gamecocks and UNC-Asheville (my alma mater). For pro teams, I pull for the Carolina Panthers in football, the Charlotte Bobcats in the NBA and the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL. I have no interest in major league baseball, but I enjoy seeing the minor league teams around here in central PA.

Celebrity you (or other people) think you resemble? Who would play you in a movie?
Lots of other forecasters here say that I look like Mike Martz, the current offensive coordinator for the Chicago Bears. I suspect that if a movie were ever made about me, you'd have to get Ben Stein to play me.
Song you hate the most?
Anything by the band Live. Unfortunately, my wife is related to their drummer.
Any superstitions you believe/practice?
Favorite/most addictive form of social media?
I'm a Facebook junkie, I am almost always logged in. I am not usually available for chat because I am usually doing something else in another window.

My earliest memory is when I was 3 years old and the young lady herding people onto the cars on the Log Flume ride at Carowinds. She asked me how old I was (and I got it right).
