The 2014 Games will see a further X-Game-ification with the addition of ski and snowboard slopestyle events, as well as men and women's ski halfpipe. (Snowboard halfpipe debuted in 1998 at the Nagano Olympics.)
"Such events provide great entertainment for the spectators and add further youthful appeal to our already action-packed lineup of Olympic winter sports," said IOC president Jacques Rogge when announcing the events' inclusion in July 2011.
