Here are some first-person videos showing the effects of the record cold temperatures in Europe.
The Associated Press reports that snow and icy roads have trapped 11,000 people in Serbia in remote mountain towns. YouTube poster Marko Randjic wrote that this video from Serbia shows "a rescue helicopter transports injured persons from the surrounding villages blocked by snow. The [landing spot] is called Jelica Polje, and it's situated in the southern part of my hometown, Ivanjica, Serbia. The helicopter had been rescuing people from surrounding villages who couldn't get through the snow."

In Warsaw, Poland, the Vistula River is starting to freeze over. "Freezing my butt off," YouTube user Gillymusing wrote.
In the Ukraine, boiling water freezes immediately when thrown in the air.
