During the season of sunning, swimming and sipping cool drinks, it can be easy to fall into a pattern. Why not try something new this year? We've got some ideas on how to make the most of your summertime.
Visit a Farmer's Market
Farmer's markets seem to pop up everywhere in the summer. They are a great place to find fresh fruits and vegetables and often other tasty treats like honey, granola and salsas and sauces. Also, walking around a farmer's market can be a great way to fit a workout into your day as you search for the perfect produce.
Plant a Garden
Spring may be the first season that comes to mind when you think of gardening, but summer is a great time for it too. Plenty of fruits, vegetables and flowers are in season during the summer months. Corn, cucumbers, tomatoes and peppers all do well growing in the heat. If flowers are more your style, try planting black-eyed Susans or daylilies. Both hold up well during the summer months.
Take Your Yoga Outside
Few things can top performing a sun salutation in the actual sunlight. Take advantage of extended daylight hours and move your yoga practice outside in the morning or evening to avoid any extreme heat during the day. Check out your local studio for outdoor options.
