    Cape Neddick “Nubble” Lighthouse

    Location:

    York, Maine

    Although Cape Neddick is its official name, Nubble Lighthouse came to be in 1879 after President Rutherford B. Hayes appropriated money to build a lighthouse on a “nub” of land for safe transport of commerce by sea.

    Qeqertarsuaq Lighthouse

    Location:

    Disko Island, Greenland

    Although glaciers dominate this stretch of land in southern Greenland known as Disko Island, 873 people call it home.

    Happisburgh Lighthouse

    Location:

    Norfolk, England

    Built in 1790, Happisburgh is the oldest working light in East Anglia, and the only independently run lighthouse in Great Britain. The tower stands at 85 feet and the lantern is 134 feet above sea level.
