The Full Snow Moon is a name given to the full moon that occurs in February in the North America.

"Since the heaviest snow usually falls during this month (February), native tribes of the north and east most often called February's full Moon the Full Snow Moon. Some tribes also referred to this Moon as the Full Hunger Moon, since harsh weather conditions in their areas made hunting very difficult," according to the Farmer's Almanac.

The normal snowfall in some of the big cities in the Northeast such as Philadelphia, New York City and Atlantic City is higher in February compared to January.

In Philadelphia, the normal snowfall for January is 6.5 inches, while the normal snowfall for February is 9.0 inches. New York City's normal snowfall for January is 7.0 inches and February is 9.0 inches. Atlantic City has a normal snowfall of 4.5 inches in January and 6.9 inches in February.

The jet stream often plunges into the East in February, clashing with moist air from the Atlantic. A storm can develop and ride up the coast, allowing for rain and snowstorms in the Northeast during February.
