The New Year is here, but it's not too late to take preventative measures to protect your home and car from winter's bite. If you want to save money on heating try installing weather-proofing strips in all the windows and doorways of your home to keep the cold from getting inside. You can find it at any hardware store but it's important to know that before you apply the strips you must first clean and smooth away any paint chips or old stripping to create a smooth surface. Without that the strips will be ineffective.

To winter-proof your car be sure to fill up on anti-freeze. A crack in your radiator can be quite costly but a quart of anti-freeze will run you less than twenty dollars. Also, you can mix vinegar and water in a spray bottle and squirt it on your windshields to prevent ice from accumulating. It may not save you money but it will certainly save you time in the morning! If you live in a place that typically receives little snowfall you can also lay a tarp over the windshield by tucking it under your windshield wipers and in through the front car doors to keep snow and ice from collecting.
