Whether you're single, are in a relationship, or have children or a few close friends, taking care of yourself is a great way to show your loved ones how much you care. Here are some basic tips for staying healthy:
1.Get moving. Make exercise fun. Go dancing, take a walk, go for a swim, or play a round of golf. Shoot for at least 30 minutes of moderate-intensity exercises five or more times a week. You can reap even greater health benefits if you spend more time being active. Always check with your doctor first before you increase your activity level.
2.Drink only in moderation. Limit alcohol to one drink per day for women or two drinks per day for men. Alcohol can affect your judgment and actions. Alcohol misuse is the leading risk factor for serious injury. Never drink and drive or allow others to drink and drive. Pregnant women, no matter how far along they are, should never drink any alcohol. This can cause fetal alcohol syndrome. And never give alcohol to a minor.
3.Get immunized. The flu shot is recommended for all adults. And you may be due for a tetanus or whooping cough booster. Other immunizations can make sure you stay healthy if you are taking a trip abroad. Talk to your doctor about getting the right vaccinations.
