Scattered heavy showers are expected across parts of central southern and southeast England, including the west London area, at times on Monday afternoon and evening.
The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, especially if the downpours affect urban areas.
This is a further update to the warning issued yesterday to reduce the size of the warning area now that the overnight thundery downpours have eased away to the south. Further showers are expected to break out this afternoon within the unstable airmass currently over southern England. Whilst the showers this afternoon are expected to be locally heavy, perhaps giving localised accumulations in excess of 10mm in a relatively short space of time, they are not expected to be as heavy nor occur on as wide a scale as this morning's heavy rain and thunderstorms. As is always the case with showers not all places will see them and some areas are expected to remain dry.The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/links.html
