A blustery weekend is expected across England and Wales with winds strengthening from the west on Saturday morning. Gusts around coastlines exposed to the westerly or southwesterly winds could reach 60 mph at times. Inland gusts will be less frequent but could still reach 50 to 55 mph. Further strengthening from the west is expected on Sunday where gusts around western coasts could locally reach 70 mph. Elsewhere gusts of 60 mph are possible, particularly in western areas.
Please be aware of the potential for some disruption due to the strong winds.A low pressure system is expected to move east to the north of Scotland on Saturday strengthening winds across the UK but particularly across England and Wales. The winds in association with this are expected to be very gusty and whilst the strongest winds are likely to be around coasts exposed to the westerly or southwesterly winds some strong gusts are also expected inland. Another low pressure system will run eastwards across southern Scotland on Sunday further strengthening the winds over England and Wales.
There is some uncertainty with the track of the second low and the extent of the gusty winds inland and so this warning is likely to be updated over the weekend. The public is advised to take extra care, further information and advice can be found here: http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/warnings/
