Snowball Fighting as an Organized Sport

If you live in a cold and snow prone area, one of your favorite childhood memories is likely having the day off from school due to snow; and also the snowball fights that ensued from them. But if you have not yet lost your inner child, snowball fights are now also played as a competitive sport... sort of.

Yukigassen, which in Japanese translates to “snow battle” , also encompasses paintball, dodgeball, and capture the flag. Regulation, machine-made snowballs are used during the 3-minute periods. The first team to win two 3-minute periods comes out on top. There are shelters to hide behind and a few different ways to win. Check out http://www.yukigassenusa.com/ for official rules.
