Sure, the tree has been taken down and the menorah put away, but that doesn't mean that all of those hearty and filling foods that you enjoyed during the holidays are gone for good. Winter - especially for those in colder regions - is a season filled with stews, roasts, and mashed potatoes, so your diet can still be in danger, even though the holidays are over.

One easy way to trim your diet in the new year is to lower your sodium intake, and it can be done in a few easy ways. For those who love a good old-fashioned roast chicken smothered in gravy or a classic roast alongside potatoes, those meals don't always have to be high in salt. Believe it or not, there is a way of making these dishes, or at least replicating their flavors, to create a heart-healthy, low-sodium meal.
