AccuWeather.com Meteorologist Jim Andrews said low pressure was tracking northeast just west of the area at midday on August 29.
"This area would have the atmospheric spin of the kind that you would need for a tornado," he said, adding the dew point was high.
"There was plenty of moisture and it was warm enough," he said, referring to the ingredients to spawn a supercell thunderstorm and tornado.
