The 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, will end on a dry and mild note on Sunday.

As has been the theme for much of this year's Olympics, Sunday is shaping up to be another mild day for Sochi.

Underneath a mixture of clouds and sunshine, temperatures will rise to 16 C (60 F). Partly cloudy skies and a low of 9 C (49 F) is expected for Sunday night.

The weather has made its presence known throughout the Winter Games as unseasonable warmth prevailed during the first full week of competition leading to some athletes' concerns about the condition of the snow and ice.

Sustained above-freezing temperatures can create slushy snow, resulting in slower speed for skiers which makes tricks more difficult to perform. They also create dangerous conditions for ski jumpers and cross country skiers, according to Earth Gauge.

The weather took another twist on Monday as dense fog developed over the mountains, causing the postponement of a men's biathlon race, along with the men's snowboard cross race, according to the Associated Press

Alpine events were able to avoid the impacts of the fog as no events were scheduled; however, no practicing was allowed on the slopes.

The storm on Tuesday brought rain to the host city of Sochi, while the outdoor events in the mountains had a wintry mix that eventually changed to all snow, giving the slopes the first fresh snow of the games.

The wintry weather brought adverse conditions for the athletes and even resulted in a delay during the women's giant slalom on Tuesday.
