Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
A low pressure system approaching northern Vancouver Island is causing strong southeast winds up to 70 km/h over exposed coastal sections near the Strait of Georgia this evening. The winds are expected to ease overnight as the low moves northward and weakens.
Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
