A PERIOD OF VERY COLD WIND CHILLS IS EXPECTED.



AN ARCTIC HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE BUILDING INTO THE PRAIRIES WILL BRING EXTREME WIND CHILL VALUES OF -40 TO -45 OVER MUCH OF SOUTHERN MANITOBA AND EAST CENTRAL SASKATCHEWAN OVERNIGHT INTO FRIDAY MORNING, AND -45 TO -50 OVER NORTHERN MANITOBA. FROSTBITE ON EXPOSED SKIN IS POSSIBLE IN 10 MINUTES OR LESS AT THESE VALUES.



THERE WILL BE SLIGHT MODERATION FRIDAY AS TEMPERATURES RISE SOMEWHAT, HOWEVER EXTREME WIND CHILLS ARE EXPECTED AGAIN FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING AS THIS COLD AIRMASS PERSISTS.
