Q)
Why do I get HTML formatted
text instead of a forecast?
A)
Make sure that your email
client can read emails in HTML format. Try to get a mail reader that can
properly interpret HTML email. Internet based services, such as Hotmail, can
interpret HTML. A web browser, such as Netscape Communicator, can also
interpret HTML.
Q)
Where are the current
conditions that used to be in the Weather Alarms email?
A)
You can still check the current
conditions for your forecast area by clicking on the 15-day forecast button in
the Alert email. This will take you to the AccuWeather.com site where you can
view the current conditions in addition to the 15-day forecast.
Q)
Why is the forecast on
AccuWeather.com different than the forecast in the Alert email?
A)
The forecast delivered in your
AccuWeather.com Alert email is valid for the hour in which it is delivered. If
you click on the 15-day forecast button at the bottom of the email, you will be
taken to the very latest forecast from AccuWeather.com. Depending on the amount
of time that has elapsed since the email was produced, the forecast on
AccuWeather.com may vary slightly from your Alert forecast because it is more
up-to-date.
Q)
How can I receive more than one
area's forecast?
A)
To get more than one ZIP code's
forecast or severe weather advisories sent to your email account, you must
register once for each ZIP code that you are interested in.
Q)
Why do I get a virus warning
from your emails?
A)
The anti-virus software on your
system could be interpreting some of our JavaScript or Java applets for
advertising as a virus. There should be a setting in the anti-virus program to
turn off checking for Java applets or JavaScript. Please consult your
anti-virus software documentation to see if this is possible.
Q)
Why are images broken when I
read the HTML formatted email?
A)
Make sure you are connected to
an Internet Service Provider so that the graphics can be downloaded from our
servers.
Q)
How can I change the forecast
location?
A)
Q)
I currently only receive the
7-day forecast. How can I get the severe weather advisories?
A)
Q)
Why do I get more than one
severe advisory in a day?
A)
Severe Weather Advisories are
emailed to your email account whenever the National Weather Service issues a
watch or warning and each time the advisory is updated. There could also be
more than one advisory for your area at a time.
Q)
Can I get the Alert emails sent
to my cell phone?
A)
Although AccuWeather.com Alert
emails can be sent to a cell phone, we do not recommend it due to the high
volume of alerts issued by the National Weather Service during severe weather
situations. We are planning to add a similar service geared towards cell phones
in the near future.
Q)
Why have I not received an
Alert Forecast in a while?
A)
Some ISPs (AOL, COX, PEOPLEPC,
ETC) are blocking the alert email as spam, or as a security risk, due to the
advertising on the email. Please request to your ISP that these emails are not
blocked.
